Name
The name Tavkveri (თავქვერი in Georgian) is thought to be derived from the word "tavkva," meaning "horn," a reference to the elongated shape of the grape clusters.
Origin
While concrete evidence regarding Tavkveri's origins is scarce, historical records suggest that the grape has been cultivated in Kartli for centuries.

Tavkveri is well-suited to Kartli's diverse terroirs, displaying a remarkable adaptability to different soil types and climatic conditions.
