Tsitska one half of the legendary Imeretian duo, this unique, versatile, and expressive variety stands out in its own right.
Origin/Name
According to the records of Ivane Javakhishvili, the name and origin of this variety likely trace back to the villages of Tsitskhe or Tsitqiuri.
Viticulture
One of the unique characteristics of this variety is that, despite its potential to produce the highest quality wines, it is a very high-yielding grape. Interestingly, it is highly susceptible to mildew yet remarkably resistant to phylloxera.
Wine styles
With its natural high acidity and excellent freshness, it is a versatile grape to play with.

Light Amber in the traditional Imeretian style, with partial aging on skins, Tsitska produces fresh, mineral, and slightly salty wines. This variety is excellent for expressing different terroirs.

Classic White style works wonders with Tsitska, transforming it into a refreshing wine that dances between umami, mineral, and citrusy notes.

Sparkling style suits this variety naturally. Its high acidity and extreme freshness ensure its ability to age on lees and gain complexity without losing acidity and freshness.
