Ghvenakhe is located in the village of Busheti. The grapes are hand-harvested at full ripeness from two plots of vineyards in the Busheti terroir at 650-700 meters above sea level, from 80 and 30 year old vines. The vineyards were established with sustainability in mind, aiming to extend the life of the vines and produce a balanced yield each year. The nature of the red clay soil provides native grape varieties with an outstanding opportunity to age for a long time.
While producing their handcrafted wines, the family focused on mastering both modern techniques and traditional Qvevri fermentation methods. In 2019, they decided to formalize their efforts by registering a company and introducing their family’s wine cellar to the market. Their small family-run production is committed to reviving authentic traditional techniques and combining them with indigenous grape varieties to consistently produce high-quality wines.
Location: Busheti, Kakheti, Georgia
Annual production: 8380 bottles
