Origin/Name

The name "Tsulukidzis Tetra" originates from the region and a notable family name associated with this grape variety. "Tsulukidze" is a Georgian surname, and "Tetra" translates to "white" in Georgian, indicating the color of the grape. This variety is also known as "Rachuli Tetra," with "Rachuli" referring to the Racha region in Georgia where it is primarily grown.

Viticulture

Tsulukidzis Tetra thrives in the humid, temperate climate of the Racha-Lechkhumi region in Georgia, particularly in well-drained, fertile soils. This grape variety has a mid-season ripening period, allowing it to develop optimal sugar levels and aromatic complexity. It shows good resistance to downy and powdery mildew but is more susceptible to botrytis, especially during rainy autumns, necessitating careful vineyard management to maintain healthy grape production and high-quality wine.

Wine styles

Tsulukidzis Tetra is used to produce high-quality white wines that are typically straw yellow with greenish reflections. These wines are known for their intense floral and herbal aromas, featuring notes of white flowers, linden honey, and citrus fruits. The palate is often structured and full-bodied, with a pleasant acidity that enhances the wine's freshness and balance.
