Tchanturia Family Wine

In Samegrelo, where viticulture had nearly disappeared, Tchanturia Family Wine began with a clear purpose: to bring vines back to the region where they had always belonged. In 2017, the family planted their own vineyards with Megrelian and Abkhazian grape varieties, placing Ojaleshi at the heart of their work. This iconic grape, once cultivated by the Murats—descendants of Napoleon who married into the Dadiani family—has deep historical roots and remarkable potential. As the first Georgian wine to receive a gold medal, Ojaleshi stands as a symbol of Samegrelo’s winemaking heritage, and restoring it on its native soil is both a cultural and personal mission for the Tchanturia family.
Winemaking here is rooted in Qvevri, not as a tradition to preserve for its own sake, but as a method that aligns with the character of the fruit. The team blends ancestral technique with modern understanding, producing only a premium line of wines. From vineyard to cellar, every decision is made with restraint. Yields are kept deliberately low, and only the best clusters and juice are used. The result is a wine that speaks of Samegrelo’s forgotten depth, reimagined with precision and purpose.
