In the heart of Kakheti, beneath the southern slopes of the Great Caucasus Mountains, lies the small city of Kvareli, home to Rotcho’s century-old estate. This 2.3-hectare vineyard, located on the right bank of the Duruji River at an altitude of approximately 450 meters, benefits from a unique terroir of clay and slate soils with a south to south-west exposure. Since 2019, the vines have been Organic Certified by CAUCASCERT, reflecting Rotcho’s deep respect for the land. The vineyard is considered the soul of their wines, which are crafted with minimal intervention to allow the terroir to shine.
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before being vinified in Qvevri* with skin contact, a traditional method that honors the heritage of Georgian winemaking. The wine then ages for 12 to 24 months, developing depth and character. Since 2020, the wines have also been Organic Certified, ensuring that every bottle embodies Rotcho’s commitment to quality and sustainability.
