Nukriani

Nukriani is run by Daviti Katchkatchashvili, an organic winegrower and winemaker from Georgia. He owns the Nukriani winery and 3.5 hectares of Rkatsiteli vineyards in Nukriani, Sighnaghi Municipality. The vineyard, situated at 750m above sea level, benefits from dry air and optimal sunlight, reducing the need for treatments and producing aromatic, strong-bodied wine.

Rkatsiteli grapes are hand-harvested, pressed with modern equipment, and naturally fermented in stainless steel vessels. The wine ages for 6-7 months in these vessels before bottling, with no artificial additives, resulting in a high alcohol content that supports aging. The vineyard, partly 50 years old and partly 8 years old, yields 3-4 tons of grapes per hectare.

Nukriani wine, certified organic by Caucascert, is naturally stable due to the local climate and soil, with balanced acidity and sugar levels. The wine has a high tannin content, balanced by using a destemmer during crushing. Rkatsiteli 2019 is a Silver Medalist of IWSC.
