Established in 2017, Levani's Marani Akhmeta is situated on the historic site of an 80-year-old vineyard, which has been meticulously renovated. The estate includes a charming yard and a residential house. Both the wine cellar and the business proudly bear the name of the founder's grandfather, Levan, with the winemaking tradition continued by Levan Gogoladze.
Levani's Marani Akhmeta specializes in crafting natural wines from bio-certified grapes sourced from the renowned Kakheti region. The first Qvevri wine, produced using time-honored techniques, was made in 2018 and bottled in 2019. The cellar houses 18-ton Qvevris.
The winery follows the traditional Kakhetian method of winemaking, involving six months of maceration with skins and stems in Qvevri, followed by five months of aging without them. This extended maceration and natural filtration process ensures the wines are alive and natural, free from any yeasts or additives. The wines are aged in Qvevri at a stable natural temperature of 14°C and further aged in the cellar at 16°C after bottling.
Levani's Marani Akhmeta produces four distinctive types of wine: Red Dry Saperavi, Amber Dry Rkatsiteli, Kakhuri Mtsvane, and Kisi.
