Buera
Share
Buera is a rare indigenous white Kakhetian grape variety. It is known for being planted randomly in vineyards in Outer Kakheti. Buera produces relatively fresh and light wines compared to other Kakhetian varieties, offering a distinct profile that stands out in the region's wine landscape
Name
By naming this grape variety, local vintners have emphasized its unique biological traits. The variety is known for its budding and blooming shoots that spread sideways and droop downward. Historically, it was called "Buera-vazi." In Shulaveri, it was referred to as "Sari Saçagi" (Sari — yellow, Saçaği — fringe), and German colonists in Borchalo named it "Roll Beer" (Roll — round, Beer — berry).
