Budeshuri Tetri

Budeshuri Tetri Observations show that the white Budeshuri grape, common in Kakheti, Outer Kakheti, and Kartli, exhibits similar morphological traits across these regions. However, its growth strength, yield, and berry size vary due to local ecological conditions. In Kakheti and Outer Kakheti, with proper irrigation and soil management, Budeshuri grows vigorously, producing large clusters. In Kartli, it has weaker growth and medium-sized clusters. Historically, Budeshuri was widespread in these regions and used for both table grapes and wine production. However, fungal diseases and pests have significantly reduced its presence, especially in Kartli.
Name
According to Ivane Javakhishvili's perspective, the name of this grape variety indicates its origin. Another view suggests that the vine should have been named due to the oval shape of its berries. According to Maxime Ramishvili's assumption, the name of this variety may have originated from the village of "Busheti" in Kakheti.
