The journey of Avandi begins in Kardenakhi, a village located in the Gurjaani municipality. It is a place known to some, yet unfamiliar to many. For Georgians, after tasting good wine, reflections often extend beyond the vineyard to thoughts of love, friendship, sacrifice, and homeland pride. The founders of Avandi also hail from Kardenakhi, deeply inspired by the sweetness of Georgian life and their rooted love for wine.
According to history, some time after their journey began whether weeks, years, or millennia later Baron de Bay traveled to Gurjaani and Kardenakhi. He was captivated by the winemaking traditions there, studied them thoroughly, and recorded his observations. Yet, as history moves much like the vineyards, shaped by the hands of neighbors and foes alike, it sometimes leaves crucial knowledge behind, lost in time. These stories ultimately inspired the name of their wine, "Avandi" an ancient Georgian term reflecting tradition. Avandi wine is a tribute to those age-old techniques passed down through generations, and with pride and respect, the founders carry the name "Avandi" forward into the future.
